Another week begins, and it’s been all hands to keyboards here.

The disadvantage of such concentrated and dedicated coding is that we don’t have a lot of eye candy to show you. That said, we’ll let you know all of the latest news a little later, but for now, let’s see what else has been going on in the world of GameGuru.

Firstly, we thought we’d share this little gem from GameGuru developer Reason.

Cracked

Lots of new media is going onto the store daily and it’s also been great to see the return of some of our established artists as well as the arrival of some new ones. We’ve more than 5230 items available on the store right now, with a large amount of new media being uploaded daily. We now cover genres from post apocalyptic, fantasy, scifi, modern day and cartoon and this is expanding rapidly.

For this week, we’re showcasing the usual mix of old and new with a focus on some of the excellent buildings available.

Medieval Tunnels from KenCharlesLong actually expand well beyond the genres the name suggests. Each piece is AI compatible and aligns using normal mode and would be great for many different games.

On a similar theme, these bunkers from new artist Elmachtige are ideal for virtually any game from WW2 upwards and are great value for the 4 models.

As many of you will know, the development team are now 100% focused on performance and optimisation work. This will of course be great for the future of GameGuru, but sadly doesn’t make great reading and rarely if ever produces shiny new screenshots. So, for now, you’ll all have to make do with some well written words:

Phase one of this progress is well underway, and has, as a result of the work it has opened up a couple of surprising opportunities that could well revolutionise GameGuru development. We’ll have to keep it all hush hush at the moment, but if everything come out as we expect, the scope of games GameGuru could create may well become very open ended indeed.

Lee Bamber, lead developer had this to say:

“News from the GameGuru boiler room is that performance work is going very well, and that in order to achieve the best possible speed boost we are stripping the engine down to its wires and optimizing from the ground up. As part of this process we are re-creating the very foundation on which the software runs, so much so that our early ‘reboot’ tests currently yields some amazing figures. Of course this core loop does not include any game, editor, or indeed any graphics calls but we wanted to start at the very beginning to make sure we pick up every last possible cycle. Last week saw a few basic graphics calls and input systems re-introduced which dropped us to a more sensible 7500 frames per second, and the work continues this week with the re-introduction of more graphics and other system calls. At each stage, we are making sure the execution runs efficiently, and any bottlenecks or redundant work is eliminated. The theory is that by the time we have fully restored all systems, GameGuru will have trimmed the fat and gained a new slimline feel, at least internally. Once we get to this point the optimizations can begin, which will include work on the occluder, our various n-core plans and a graphics scene graph overhaul. As you might expect with performance coding, there isn’t a lot of screenshots we can show you right now but as soon as profiling begins we might be able to rustle up some before and after shots so watch this space and of course keep an eye out on the blogs and forum for news of parallel developments such as new artwork and twitch broadcasts!”

This week we released the much awaited 002 version, an update that was three weeks in the making and introduces motion blur and DOF effects for the first time in Game Guru. The release went well and our next mission is to take reports for any minor issues that might have sprung up which we could not catch at the testing stage.
During our extensive testing, a number of shots where produced which highlight the versatility of the product, and in the one above it shows just how colorful you can make your games.
If your favorite color is orange, there is a color scheme for you too, as demonstrated with this rather exaggerated rocky scene. Also in this shot you might make out the depth of field effect at work as the more distant geometry is blurred out of focus by the post process shader.
Many more improvements have been made for build 002, including lots of work on the third person control system and in a neighboring camp, work on multiplayer which now allows custom characters to be chosen as avatars so you can play yourself when running around a death match or co-op game. As the Character Creator allows a lot of crazy combinations, it provides our testing team with a lot of fun seeing what hideous creations we're wearing next! Work is now proceeding to allow your own face to be mapped to the custom characters to further the goal of making a personal avatar you can use for all multiplayer games. Exciting stuff!
We have a team meeting next week to decide the next major update, and the community has so far indicated that performance should be the sole target of our efforts, and I am inclined to agree. We have a few levels that run under 30 fps and a few more than run under 60 fps. It would be ideal if we can get ALL our stock levels well past the basic 60 frames per second threshold, and then continue this work to ensure even large levels never drop below this minimum setting (PC systems permitting). We are currently setting quite a low minimum spec for Game Guru, and with this performance work we have the possibility of reducing the requirements still further.
My thanks to the community so far who have posted reviews on the Steam Community Hub, and an extra thanks for those who posted glowing scores! It's early days and it's great we have your confidence moving forward as we aim to build the easiest game maker on the planet. New Editor Free Flight mode!
- When in entity mode, you can hold right mouse button to mouselook to view
- When in entity mode, you can hold RMB and use W,A,S,D keys to move around in 3D
- When moving in free flight camera mode, press SHIFT to speed up movement
- When moving in free flight camera mode, press CONTROL to slow down movement
- To exit free flight camera mode in the IDE, simply press G
- To re-enter free flight camera mode in the IDE, simply press F (or use right click and mouse look)
- Fixed issue of more distant entities being selected in main IDE editor when in Free Flight view
- Fixed issue of free flight camera going under terrain ground height
- Pressing F (free flight) from fresh run no longer messes up camera
- Added limiter to free flight X angle so camera can avoid insane gimbal lock
Entity Widget
- Widget Scaling of entities now avoids the 'bounce effect' for more control
- Increased the relative speed of widget scaling for larger quicker scale changes
- Added ratio based scaling to the XYZ mode of the Widget scaling
- Biaxis handles and pointers of the widget now always face camera angle
- When the widget core is out of the screen, the menu is auto hidden
- Widget XY and YZ biaxis controls no longer shift when single clicked
- Switched off detection of entities when in right mouse button mode
- When moving, rotating or scaling using widget, UNDO and REDO now reverse last change
- When clicking XYZ scale widget, entity no longer shifts size when clicked
Editor
- Removed OPTIONAL VISUALS folder from entity properties - not used any more
- When the user clicks ADD NEW ENTITY, instantly default to BARRELS instead of blank page
- Changed Add New Entity to only expand top level CHARACTERS and BUILDINGS folders
- Prevented a crash relating to entity highlighter system
- Added support for basic importing of 3DS model files (Sketchup Pro & Others)
- Tested Importer SKETCHUP->COLLADA->ONLINECONV->X
- Selected entities no longer rotate when numerics 1-6 used in entity properties
- When return from zoomed-in properties view, now restores clipping if in TAB 'inside' mode

- When select New Level, free flight view settings and mode are reset
- 'M' key now hides/shows markers from view
- Grid system now works in the vertical (use page up/page down)
- When placing entities, they find will find the best floor position (not just the terrain).
- Added STORY ZONE to Markers category to allow video play back in game (WMV format only)
Gameplay
- Adjusted Zombie FPEs to ensure all characters foot plant properly on ground
- Tested INVMOUSE=1 in SETUP.INI to ensure 'inverted mouse' feature works fine
- Speed of player (set in player properties) now affects camera and footfall sync
Rendering Engine
- Confirmed an issue that caused some entities not to occlude lightmap now work
- Updated pre-bake entity renderer so HIGHEST produces better dynamic shadows
- Test Level F9 Mode
- Added weapons and ammo in F9 mode will now activate and work when exit F9 mode
- Added code to ensure newly added characters in F9 mode come to life in game
- When characters die, then press F9 twice, ragdoll characters stay dead
Weapons
- FORCEZOOMOUT no longer depends on SIMPLEZOOM value in GUNSPEC, and will force unzoom
- Re-fixed the issue of the dry fire repeating when gun shot finished
- Fixed issue causing gun to freeze/disable when repeat test game and select again
- Improved the BRASS45 textures ejected by the Colt 1911 thanks to ErrantAI
- When specify a weapon under Start Marker, no longer wipes out ammo statistics

тестовый уровень создает 4000 файлов, весит 2 гигабайта и загружает 20-30 минут

Можно ли в этом конструкторе сделать что-то менее убогое, нежели шутер от первого лица?
Или, другими словами: третье лицо здесь в принципе возможно?

Не рабочий ваш репак батенька весит 1.43Гб а при установке распаковывает около 3мб как будто вирус какой то подсаживает ну или у вас кривой exe сделан думаю проще купить лицензию

Я раньше использовал FPSC 9 и 10. Поэтому могу судить о плюсах и минусах данной программы. К плюсам можно отнести улучшенную графику. Минусы: прежде отсутствие видимого повреждения на стенах, стеклах (не бьются) при использовании огнестрельного оружия. И еще одно: мало самого оружия. Оно разнообразно, но его мало, по сравнению с прежними версиями креатора.
Подскажите, есть ли модпаки на GameGuru?
